Frequently Asked Questions
How is a midwife different from a doula?
A midwife is a medical professional whose job it is to care for your health and your baby’s health during pregnancy, delivery, and after birth. A doula is a non-medical professional whose job it is to encourage, inform, support, and keep you as comfortable as possible throughout your pregnancy and birth.
Is your doula certified?
Yes, Margaret Lowe holds the following certifications through Madriella: certified birth doula, certified postpartum doula, certified childbirth educator, and certified lactation educator.
What financing options are available?
We are happy to provide you with an invoice that you can submit to your FSA or HRA for reimbursement. We also offer payment plans.
What if someone else is also planning to be with me when I give birth?
That’s wonderful! Having the support of a trusted family member or friend is very helpful. We work with your birth partners, coming alongside them and coaching them regarding how to best support you.
Do you offer postpartum doula services?
Our birth packages include a postpartum visit to see how you are doing, provide you with support nursing or bottle feeding your baby, answer questions about infant care, and help you process your birth experience. Additional postpartum visits are available for an additional fee.
